Starting a family can be an extremely exciting time in your life but can also be a time of anxiety and a myriad of questions!
Having good antenatal care can help to alleviate any concerns you may have about your baby’s health in utero or your health as the mother as well.
Antenatal care should commence as soon as it is confirmed you are pregnant to make sure your baby remains healthy, develops well and any risks can be quickly identified.
Southport Metro Medical Centre offer antenatal care and a range of medical services and support for mothers to be on the Gold Coast.
At your initial visit to Southport Metro Medical Centre we will need to know about your medical history, your family’s medical history, any medications you may be taking and any lifestyle factors that will need to be taken into account so the GP can formulate the best antenatal care plan for you.
Our GP will determine the due date of your baby and commence a pregnancy health record which you will take to all appointments with the hospital or obstetrician.
During your pregnancy, our GP’s can provide antenatal medical advice, check ups and routine antenatal care including:
- Weight measurements of mother and baby
- Fetal heart monitoring
- Routine tests including blood tests, urine tests, blood pressure tests and screening
If it is determined your antenatal care requires referrals to allied health services, we can arrange that as well.
Our GP’s at Southport Metro Medical Centre work in partnership with your obstetrician, midwife or hospital to ensure you and your baby receive the utmost in patient care during this extremely exciting yet important time of your life.
Right from the start our GP’s at Southport Metro Medical based at Southport on the Gold Coast, will provide you and your baby with the highest quality patient care so you can be at ease and enjoy your pregnancy as much as possible and give birth to a healthy baby.
