📅 Book with Katie🌱 Fertility Nutrition — Katie’s Special Focus
Katie is a certified Fertility Dietitian, a formal credential in preconception and pregnancy nutrition that few dietitians on the Gold Coast hold. Nutrition plays a bigger role in fertility than most people realise, for both partners. Egg and sperm quality, hormone balance, cycle regularity and pregnancy outcomes are all influenced by what you eat in the months before conception.
Katie works with individuals and couples at every stage: preparing to conceive naturally, supporting IVF cycles, managing PCOS or endometriosis symptoms that affect fertility, and building healthy eating patterns through pregnancy itself. If you have been trying for a while, or you want to give yourselves the best possible start before you begin, a few sessions with Katie can make a genuine difference.

Areas of Expertise
- Diabetes and blood sugar management From newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes to long-standing type 1, gestational diabetes and prediabetes, Katie builds eating plans that keep blood glucose steady without turning every meal into a maths problem. She works alongside your GP so your nutrition plan and your medical management stay in sync.
- Gut health, allergies and intolerances Bloating, IBS, reflux, suspected intolerances and diagnosed allergies all respond well to structured dietary work. Katie uses evidence-based approaches including FODMAP protocols where appropriate, with a clear plan for reintroduction so you are not stuck on a restrictive diet forever.
- Heart health and weight management Sustainable change beats dramatic change every time. Katie helps with cholesterol, blood pressure and weight goals through realistic adjustments you can maintain, not six-week transformations that undo themselves by August.
- Children and families With national paediatric dietetic training through the Dietitians Association of Australia, Katie sees children for fussy eating, growth concerns, allergies and family eating patterns. Sessions are relaxed and practical, and parents leave with strategies that survive contact with real weeknights.
- Sports nutrition Katie completed sports nutrition training with the Australian Institute of Sport and works with recreational and competitive athletes on fuelling, recovery and body composition.
Katie works in the same clinic as our GPs, physiotherapists and psychologist. If your GP has flagged your cholesterol, blood sugar or weight, or you are seeing our physio team for an injury, your care can be coordinated in one place rather than scattered across the Gold Coast.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to see a dietitian?
No referral is needed to book with Katie privately. If you want to claim the Medicare rebate of $63.40 per session, you need a Chronic Disease Management plan from your GP first. If you are a patient at Southport Metro, we can arrange the care plan and your dietitian sessions in the same clinic.
What is a fertility dietitian and can it really help me conceive?
A fertility dietitian works on the nutrition factors that influence conception: egg and sperm quality, hormone balance, weight, insulin resistance and nutrient status. The evidence shows diet quality in the months before conception affects fertility outcomes for both partners. Katie holds a formal Fertility Dietitian certification and works with individuals and couples trying naturally and those going through IVF.
What happens at the first appointment?
Katie takes a full picture of your health, eating patterns, lifestyle and goals, then works with you on a practical plan. You will leave the first session with clear, specific changes to start on, not a generic handout. Follow up sessions track progress and adjust the plan as your needs change.
Can Katie help with my child’s fussy eating?
Yes. Katie has completed paediatric dietetic training and sees children regularly. Fussy eating, growth concerns, food allergies and building better family eating habits are all common reasons parents book in. Sessions are family friendly and pressure free.
Is seeing a dietitian worth it for weight loss?
If you have tried diets that work for six weeks and then stop working, that is exactly the problem a dietitian solves. Katie focuses on sustainable habits matched to your life rather than rigid rules. Slower, permanent change beats fast, temporary change.
What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?
Dietitian is a protected title in Australia requiring university qualifications and accreditation, and dietitians can provide medical nutrition therapy for health conditions. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. Katie is both an Accredited Practising Dietitian and a qualified nutritionist, so you get the highest level of training available.
