To access the Medicare rebate on psychology sessions, you need a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your doctor. This allows rebates on up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year. Book a standard GP appointment and ask for an MHTP — we can arrange this at the same visit.
The ADHD Assessment includes a clinical interview, standardised assessments (Connors, Vanderbilt and RCADS completed by parents, teachers and the patient), and a written report. It also includes sessions on ADHD management, executive functioning, and building behavioural and emotional resilience.

Do I need a referral to see Steven?
Yes, a GP referral is required. If you also want Medicare rebates, you’ll need a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan. Book a standard GP appointment first — we can sort both at the same visit.
How many sessions can I get with a Medicare rebate?
Up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year with a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Your GP will review the plan with you after 6 sessions to assess progress and authorise the remaining sessions if needed.
What days is Steven available?
Steven works Fridays at our Southport clinic. Availability is limited — book early to secure an appointment.
Is Steven’s ADHD assessment the same as a GP ADHD assessment?
No — these are separate pathways. Steven offers a comprehensive psychological ADHD assessment, which includes formal testing tools and a written report. GP ADHD assessments (now available in Queensland) are a clinical diagnostic process. Both are valid; the right pathway depends on your circumstances. Your GP can advise which suits your situation.
