Our Approach
- Evidence-based treatment We use the most current, clinically proven techniques — hands-on manual therapy, targeted exercise programmes, dry needling, and education about your condition. Treatment is tailored to you, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
- GP collaboration Being co-located with our GP team means your physio and doctor can communicate directly about your care. This is particularly valuable for WorkCover patients, complex injuries, and people managing a physical injury alongside a chronic health condition or mental health concern.
- Return-to-work focus For WorkCover and occupational injuries, we take a practical approach — getting you functional and back to work at the right pace, with clear documentation for your employer and insurer throughout. Our GPs and physios work as a team on return-to-work planning.
- Sports rehabilitation Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a competitive athlete, we understand the physical and psychological demands of sport. We’ll work with you on injury rehabilitation, movement correction, and a structured return-to-sport programme.
- Home Care Package visits Physiotherapy home visits are available for eligible patients under a Home Care Package. This includes assessment, treatment, and exercise programmes delivered in your home. Call reception on (07) 5612 7830 to discuss eligibility.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist?
No referral is needed to book a standard physiotherapy appointment — you can book directly. However, if you want to access Medicare rebates under a GP Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan, a referral from your GP is required. Speak to your GP at your next appointment about whether you’re eligible.
Is physiotherapy covered by private health insurance?
Most extras cover policies include physiotherapy. We have HICAPS onsite so you can claim on the spot — just bring your health fund card. Most major health funds are supported including Allianz.
Is physiotherapy covered by WorkCover Queensland?
Yes. For approved WorkCover Queensland claims, all physiotherapy costs related to your injury are covered. Your GP will provide a referral as part of your WorkCover management plan. There is no out-of-pocket cost to you.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the nature and severity of your injury or condition. Your physio will give you a realistic assessment at your initial consultation — including how many sessions you’re likely to need and how long recovery will take. We don’t keep patients coming back unnecessarily.
Can I book physiotherapy if I’m not already a patient of the GP clinic?
Yes. Physiotherapy at Southport Metro is open to all patients regardless of whether you see one of our GPs. You can book directly with Ehab or John online or by calling (07) 5612 7830.
Do you offer dry needling?
Yes. Dry needling is one of the techniques our physiotherapists use for muscle pain, trigger points, and certain musculoskeletal conditions. Discuss this with your physio at your initial consultation to find out whether it’s appropriate for your situation.
What should I bring to my first physio appointment?
Bring any relevant imaging (X-rays, MRI reports), previous physio or specialist letters if you have them, your WorkCover claim details if applicable, your private health fund card, and comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated.
